• Harness is Upgrade Ready IMPORTANT NOTE: This light kit operates best with a 12-volt power supply. If you have a 36-volt (six batteries with 3 fill holes per battery) electrical system in your Club Car you can get the required 12-volts by ‘tapping’ into any two adjacent batteries that are wired to each other (6 volts + 6 volts=12 volts). If you have a 48-volt system (six batteries with 4 fill holes per battery) things get a little trickier. There is not a convenient way to tap into a 48-volt battery pack to get 12-volts. You have 3 options:
Option 1: Tap into one 8-volt battery–the lights do not as bright as they could at 12-volts but the bulb life is a lot longer.
Option 2: Tap into two 8-volt batteries, which makes for a 16-volt power supply. The lights will burn a lot brighter & will burn out a lot sooner than they should.
Option 3: Purchase a Golf Cart or Utility Vehicle DC to DC Voltage Reducer in a 10 amp or 25 amp version. This connects to all six batteries and reduces the 48-volts down to 12-volts to supply the electrical accessories. The advantage is all the batteries supply power to the lights and they all recharge back to the same level.
